My name is Dan Marx. I have a Ph.D. from the University of Missouri-Columbia,
School of Education and a second master's degree from the University of
Pittsburgh. I have been providing professional computer services in the
Johnstown area since 1990.
Marx Computer Service is a one man operation. I personally provide all the
services and stand behind all my work. I sometimes teach a couple of classes
at the Cambria County Area Community College but never to the point where
it interferes with the services I offer.
Marx Computer Service operates from a home office. Therefore it is virtually
a 24 hour a day operation. You can call at any time any day. You may reach
me or some other human being. If not, you will get my answering machine.
My answering machine usually is set to page me wherever I am so feel free
to leave a message. I'll usually get back to you very quickly.
I am willing to come to you. That way we can work with your equipment and
in your setting. You can also come to my office but it's always best to call
before stopping by in case I'm at another customer's place.
Feel free to call (814) 269-4223 any time you have a question. I will always
do my best to help you if I can. If I feel that there is someone else who
could serve you better, I'll always suggest that. My customers will tell
you I never mind being asked questions.
I think you will find that I am friendly and honest and helpful (but perhaps
sometimes not very modest).
Any time you need help Marx Computer Service is there to provide an answer.
Thinking of getting new computer equipment but not sure what you need? Thinking
of getting new software? Call me for unbiased consulting. I don't sell computer
equipment. I don't make a profit based on what you decide. When you hire
me as a consultant, you know I'm working for you and no one else. And because
of my position in the business, when the time comes, I can often show you
where and how to save money when you buy. Buy the right things in the right
places and over the long run, you can save more than what you paid me for
the consultation.
Having trouble getting your computer(s) to work correctly? I can help. I
work on all brands of IBM compatible computers. It doesn't matter where you originally purchased your equipment. I repair computers. I also work with networks. You can come to me or I can come to you. Sometimes I can simply provide
you with the information you need to make things work properly again. I can also show you how to avoid common errors in
the future.
Need to learn more about how to use computers? Want to provide more training
for people in your organization? If you want extensive basic training, such as a standard introduction
to computers you might want to just take a course at our
community college or a similar site.
I have taught at the community college and I believe they offer valuable courses. And let's face it, a college course can be cheaper than individualized
training. On the other hand, in a large class you have to
learn at the group's pace and you have to learn the material already determined
by the syllabus. If you're looking for a customized package then call me
and let's discuss it. We'll design a package that starts where you need it
to, covers exactly what you want it to, and moves at exactly at the right
pace. And remember, you hire me just for the amount of time you want. You are the boss. If you want just a little help, that's fine, if you then decide you'd likemore, that's OK too.
Bottom line? If you're a large corporation with significant full times needs
for computing expertise, hire yourself an MIS department or expand the one
you already have. If your needs are more modest call me. I can provide you
the computer expertise and the people skills you need, in the specific area
you need, and just as much as you need.
How much will it cost?
My base rate is $85 per hour. There's a $10 an hour discount for immediate
payment. There's an additional discount for churches and some other non-profit
organizations. In some cases there are additional discounts for residential
services. So, it will probably cost less than $85 per hour. How much less?
Call. I'll be glad to spend some time with you on
the phone to determine if I am the best person to help you and how much it
will cost. And of course, at no cost or obligation.
